About

Links to a Life is a creative learning collective with science enrichment at its core.
Links to a Life was established as a CiC in 2017, with the following purpose:
Vision
The Arts and Sciences come alive when considered together. Amalgamating their craft and disciplines can render the learning of scientific topics into a more appealing and inviting form and in so doing positively impact on attainment and progression of young learners.
Mission
Through a determination and clarity of vision, by being quality driven and customer focused Links to a Life strives to be a practise-based leader in a creative learning rooted at the heart of young people’s education.
Values:
- creative approaches to the communication of scientific concepts and narratives can positively affect attainment and progression, particularly in relation to girls
- the disciplines inherent to the arts and those integral to the sciences converge in a place rich in potential for impactful teaching and learning
- our impact is strengthened and our reach is widened through a partnership approach
Aims
Through original participatory programmes, Links to a Life aims to promote unsung female scientists; by telling their lives through documentary theatre and by bringing understanding to their science specialism. Through this work we aim to develop an evidence base to demonstrate the effect on participants’ interest in science. We aim to track changes in confidence and self-belief and to test the shifts in attainment and progression in physics as a result of exposure to these approaches.
